Precious ... and delightfully dotty

After 30 years as a primary teacher Susan decided to turn her skills to moulding clay rather than the lives of small children. Clay doesn't answer back, she says.

Born in Bristol, brought up in Edinburgh, Susan now works in the south-west of England. Her main creative interests extend to ceramics, low relief wood carving and mosaics with West Dean College, near Chichester, proving a source of great inspiration. Her ceramics represent her present outlook after years of submersion in the education system ... that life can change completely and is full of surprises and promise; but no matter how one's path may twist and turn there is always something good and precious at the heart of things.    Hazel Reid

All my pottery is fired to at least 1230oC, which means that it is:

  • impermeable to water and watertight, so ideal for holding flowers
  • frostproof, so suitable for garden use
  • dishwasher safe
  • microwave safe, although some of the glazes contain iron and the container may become hotter than the contents! - Be Warned!

The name 'Delightfully Dotty' was inspired by my sister-in-law's reaction on seeing the first box that I made, which was along the same lines as the one on my home page. "Oh Susan - it's delightfully dotty!"

Many of the boxes have a 'lock' as an integral part of the design, so that the lids fit only one way and don't slide off.
